Photo: UNILAG STUDENTS PROTEST OVER INCREMENT IN COURSE REG. FEE.

Students of the University of Lagos has blocked the entrance into the school compound, prevent vehicle from moving in and out of the premises.

The student, who are not in a happy mode, protests against the increment of the course registration fee which was increased from N10,000 then N15,000. So they became angry when it turned N20,000 after few days. And this led to the shutting down of the portal as students are unable to register their desired course and might also prevent them from writing their examinations.

The students are singing protest songs, condemning the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rahman Bello of venality.
"If they do not immediately re-open the portal for registration, this will be a springboard to demand lifting the unacceptable ban on the students’ union government.” was the statement that came out from one of the protestants.

Initially, the Student Union of University of Lagos had been banned since 2005 and the students insinuated that even at that, they cannot be prohibited from dissenting.

The core reason(s) for the protest is perhaps the government should reduce the Registration fee back to the initial amount and/or open the portal for registration.
