LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS SQUALLS GOV. BABATUNDE RAJI FASHOLA’S OFFICE

On Thursday, The Students of Lagos State University stormed the office of her Governor at Alausa, Ikeja likely not to leave the buildings until there is a fall in the Tuition fee and also their fellow arrested students was freed unreservedly.

Funny enough, the female student swung into action by setting up a local kitchen of firewood and also cooked beans in front of the office of the Governor. This is also an attempt to show their seriousness about the protest. While there was a heavy rain downpour, the students denied the presence of the rain as they were seen singing and dancing solidarity songs and were also chanting prayers of intervention.

The SUG President, Yusuf Nurudeen, said the students choose to fight against the fee hike until the issue is resolved by the State Government. He went further to say, “If the governor refuses to come out, we will remain here until he comes out. If the governor can respond to issues that are less important than this, he should come out and respond to the students of the state he governs. Our school has been shut down. Students are dropping out of school on daily basis. We decided not to engage the party leaders because people in government do not understand any Language. The Language they understand is protest”.

Unfortunately, Gov. Fashola was said to be in Port Harcourt at the said time. He was in Rivers to attend the Nigerian Governors Retreat Forum but Aderemi Ibirogba, Commissioner for Information and Strategy and Kayode Opeifa, Commissioner for Transportation said the issue on of the tuition fee would be discussed on/before 9th of June.
